Just got back from fishing at the funfair. started at 7 pm caught 5 mackeral kept two for bait then started serious fishing. The pesky bream were about striping bait was getting knocks as soon as bait hit the water. Caught two in the end, Then had a big knock on the rod not a bream was my thoughts realed it in and was shocked to see a 1.5 lb COD??? yes thats right a cod are the fish confused. The cod was caught on rag. Tok some photos and put it back.

That is incredible Kilsy, you sure it wasn't a Pollack? Someone else reported whiting down there too which I also cannot believe as they don't usually come in 'til end of October. Sean reckons it was pollack which the guy did not identify correctly. Mind you, we have not exactly had a normal summer so maybe some strange things are happening. Makes me wonder what may turn up tonight as we are doing a night sesh at Inn on the Beach.

No it was definatly a cod speccled top white belly, barbell under the chin it shocked me to I even had to get my book to identify it as I could not believe it myself. maybee it is the northerly winds that we have just had.

Like you said crazy at this time of year the water was calm last night and there was little or no wind what is going on
