Interested to know if anyone has a view on the Century CM SRE 4.6M 3 Piecer. Looking for a decent 3 piece beach rod -purely for transportation purposes- and the SRE looks interesting. Also the Company blurb says that ideal for line between 6-8lbs but casting weight 5-6oz. I know I am new to fishing but I would have thought that a beach fishing rod capable of casting 5-6oz weights should be able to cope with 15-20lbs+ line.

Your thoughts will be well received.

Have to say I know nothing about 3 piece rods but anything able to cast 5-6oz will definitely be good enough to hold 15-20lb line (if not a lot more). I do have a century rod and swear by this brand, as does anyone else I know who's had a century rod.

Hi Mogthemakem,
I have since found out that with Zziplex rods the manufacturer only supplies the blanks and the dealer finishes them off to your colour requirements etc.. Sounds a bit overthetop really. However, stil keen to check out the Century SRE which is being featured in the January Sea Angler. Do you think I should be influenced by this?.

Hi TANCHET,No comparrison between centurys and Zippys, unless it is JUST a beach caster you want, then Zippys win hands down, but ONLY as a beach caster.on a previous thread you asy about the Zippy blanks being made for you,i would recommend a shop called " REEL SPORT" its in Hebburn,Tyne & Wear, the guy is a diamond, all his rods are made to the highest quality workmanship,i would only ever recommend this shop for making blanks up,and no one else except" JULIAN SHAMBROOK" if you can get him to make you 1 up,GO FOR IT mate
