Hi Guys,
Finally getting a chance to give you a report from our 10 days on Chesil between 23rd june til 1st July. It was awesome!!! We had 16 species in the ten days, which suprised us considering the weather, force 8 to 9 winds at abbotsbury and ferrybridge. we did two 3 day sessions staying on the beach living off wayfarer ration packs and caught fresh mackeral! Carrying the kit was a bloody nightmare but worth it! ok so we had about 18 Common smooth hound up to 9.5lb about 10 starry's to 6lb, numerous doggies, mackeral, eels, tub gurnard, red gurnard, black bream, pout, poor cod, bass, dragonette, and from weymouth stone pier we had goby and 3 speices of wrasse. We were ther last year (its an annual event for 3 of us) and only had 5 species and was gorgeous weather last year! Thanks to the guys at weymouth angling centre and denning tackle they sorted us out with some kit and stupid amounts of bait! We spend £120 per 3 day/night session sounds alot but we used all the bait! Rag, squid, peeler and sandeel. We caught on everything but the peeler was the killer!
Cant wait to get back there!! |

Good old Chesil beach, it is one of my favourite venues with Abbotsbury and the big shingle bank at the Weymouth end being particularly good.
16 different species just goes to show how varied the sealife is in this area. Nice one. Bet you can't wait for next year now!

I'm coming down beginning August so sounds as though things are warming up just nicely!! Anyone any idea how it's going further round ie towards Lyme? |
