Fished St Osyths beach just in front of the sailor boy - fished from about 17:30 tru to midnight, caught half a dozen wtg a codling and an eel. Thinking about trying elsewhere for some better game. |

Hi, I spoke to a few anglers fishing at Cliff Road (I think!), who said they were encountering a lot of snags a fair way off shore. Are there any noted snags to avoid, like the "hefts" at Lowestoft, or were they rocks, etc. ? Similarly, are there any marks best to avoid altogether, or at certain tides?
Also seemed pretty cramped casting; overhead thumps only?
Regards, Alex |

Hi,
I was told that the snags were to the right of the walkway, and some way out; however, I had a look at low water, from the pier to the radar tower, and the only trouble I could see was immediately next to the promenade, such as the concrete sea defences, rocks and some wire mesh cages protruding. I was also told that long casting was necessary and to fish only the ebb; good advice?
Cheers, Alex |
