Also being a pike angler for which I use Shimano Baitrunners, I was wondering if anyone uses Shimano Baitrunners for sea fishing.

I've always been very wary of letting my Baitrunners anywhere near sea water ....... however, was thinking about buying for a bit of light shore fishing/rock fishing ....... or is it a bad idea re. corrosion, etc.

Looking at buying one of the Grey's Bass rods (either 2-3 or 3-5 oz version) and teaming it with a new reel ....... largest 8000 Baitruner or Shimano Biomaster.

Any recommendations/thoughts?

Also can't decide between the 2-3oz or 3-5oz version rods above ....... want something light and responsive but that could also hold its own re. casting/stronger conditions.

Does anyone know if the 3-5oz version of this rod is still light and responsive but with some added back bone ....... or would the 2-3oz version be better suited for light shore work.

Cheers.

I have not used a baitrunner but i will follow this posting as i am toying with a Shimano Baitrunner Aero XTE-A to buy.

I currently use a Shimano Hyperloop for all my spinning and float work and it is a dream but i want to upgrade. From what i have read and heard about for salt water fishing you cannot really go wrong with these little beauties.

cheers
