Hi Clarkona,
we just came back from our annual 10 day trip to Chesil and it was awesome! We had 16 species over that time. There were two marks that stood out this year. The tank traps at abbortsbury which is a long hike from the car park to the left heading back towards the fleet take you about 30 mins carrying kit. The other mark is ferrybridge. Stand in the car park look up and you see a concrete ordanance survey marker post. walk straight up to this and walk 26 paces to the right.
You can expect common smooth hounds, starry smooth hounds, red and tub gurnard, large pout, eels, etc. Rig of choice at the mo is a two hook clipped down or a one up one down. You should be ok with 5 oz of lead but may need 7! Our best smooth hound was 9.5lbs the best to come off Chesil so far this season according to the local tackleshops. Bait wise rag and peeler are the killers at the moment. Go to Weymouth Angler on Weymouth harbour or Denning Tackle on the way to Ferrybridge, both helped us out loads with local knowledge. Good luck and hope Ive helped.

Tim
