hi joe,
did you make it down to colin over the weekend?
the next casting comp down this way is on november the 20th at dorchester and is hosted by the weymouth casting club. entry for the event is usually £5.00 and this is the norm for most other casting clubs. you would be very welcome to come along and attend. there are some very good casters who get to dorchester. these guys are very helpfull in getting people like yourself up and running. casting normally gets under way about 9-9.30 ish. in the winter we pack up about 4. but in the summer casting usually goes on till 6 ish. there is a good cafe not too far from the field where a few of us meet up before heading off to throw some lead down a field. |

Hiya bud, a few tips from Colin was amazing, after 15 mins the french were taking cover, a truly great bloke, had a few amber nectars after, I sent him your regards, he told me to remind you about the sandie you sent South!!!!!!
I got the 6500's (CT's) like he sugested, but he wasn't too impressed with me when I bought the WR300 (after he told me it was too stiff for me to fish with). I did tell him though that I want it mainly for comps, as I have the Diawa 133pm for fishing.
Am reaching about 160 to 190 yds, but find it easier with 150gms than the bricks.
How can I put a bit more power in, maybe if I make a wider outswing? Will deffinatly give it a go though at the comp, have you any directions for me.
Cheers bud

joe,
the wr300 is a bit of a beast to say the least. the thing to do is don't try and run before you can walk. you need to get a good idea of the basics first and develop a sound style. you will find that you will be able to hit the rod harder as you progress. you can also gradually increase the body rotation in small increments, this will help generate more power in time.
as for directions to the field in dorchester i will pm you nearer to the time if you are definatley coming down. |
