The nearest tackle shops are either in Barrack street Colchester (20 min drive) or East Essex Angling in Heybridge (25 minute drive)
The water only gets to about 7' deep within casting range and the only decent mark I know of is fishing along side the sewerage pipe which runs out between the Waldegraves and Seaview parks. The pipe starts nearer to Seaview and the end of it is marked by a triangle on a stick about 800yds out. Fish the right hand side of it on the flood and the left hand side on the ebb.
Anyone got any other Mersea marks? |

The Barrack St shop Sheddy mentions is Porters- 01206 795757- very friendly bloke (Rob) who runs it. Always gives good advice and doesnt try to rip you off.
I've not fished Mersea as I've not heard many good reports though by all accounts it can have its day with chances of bass and stingray. Others have fished it so I'll leave it to them to advise where the best marks are.

We have had the odd stingray over the years at the mark that Sheddy mentions. Other than that only schoolies. Other place we used to fish was East Mersea on the point. Very deep water and we have even had codling there occasionally in the Summer. All our lug was dug at West Mersea in front of the car park. Good luck. |

Coopers beach is about a mile and a half walk from the sewerage pipe. Theres plenty of schoolies to be had just off of coopers beach but they are properly small, like 6". |
