hi all, went fishing in newhaven few days ago started to fish from 9:30pm to 3:30am, on various locations within newhaven.
i strated off at the newhaven pier and fished off the car park tried various ranges and baits no response. decided to move off to to fish just off light hope inn from 12am to finish. everything was so quite not even a bite.
loosing alot of confidence from this lol took 1hr 45min to get there and further 2hr back.
used mackeral strips, half mackeral, squid, prawn, cocktails and lures when i got there.
rigs used were 2 hook flapper and pennel.
any guide around to help me out ? lol, keep thinking im doing something wrong. |

One of the local charter skippers was saying that there is alot of May Weed in the water at the minute. This would explain why the fishing around here has taken a sudden down turn. Maybe it's the same down there.
A couple of mates went to Walton Pier on Saturday night and they only had a few small fish. It really has got bad very quickly. Still, it won't take long to clear and then hopefully it'll be time to hit the bass. |

the sea has churned up a bit this week, fishing at the newhaven carpark has been pants for weeks, due to the dredger working the channel and entrance, the only good thing about the carpark is you dont looses tackle, brighton marina is always the best spot for a wider variety of fish, bass, squid, pouts gar, maceral, small flatties, rass eels, the last time a bout two weeks ago i fished newhaven all i was pulling out were eels, and small rockling, i have had a couple of schoolie bass on the walkways under peacehaven to saltdean on lures when the water was crystal last week but the other trouble with this stretch is the netting all along the coast to saltdean so can be hit and miss. |

Joey, i fished the car park sunday night till about 9.00. it was cr*p. It rained bad and i got soaked. Walking back to where i was staying i tried one cast outside the hope inn. Got a bite straight away but it fell off on the retrieve. Tried again 7.00 the next morning but wether was even worse and the wind was to strong. All in all it was a pretty poor weekend. Although one guy I was talking to said people were catching loads on Saturday. |
