I am going to attempt to load a fixed spool reel, and was hoping someone could give me advice to avoid line twist, is it best to load the line through the eyes on the rod or can you do it straight onto the spool with out the rod?
Also which direction should it leave the spool holding the line onto the spool on the reel?

Thanks for any help!

You can load it several ways

Some recommend putting the new spool in a bucket of water and then wind onto the FS from there

I personally attached the FS to my rod, thread the line down the whole rod, and wind it in that way - never had any kinks etc (but then have only done thi 5 times only)

Some say get the wife/partner/kiddy to hold the reel with a pencil through the spool and wind it that way

What ever you choose, try to keep the line feeding in a steady (not fast) speed, do not apply too much taugthness to the line as you feed it, that could weaken the line.
