Well I had to drop and collect some kit in Plymouth yesterday so i thought whats a better way to spend the day out the office.
I left Southampton 6am arrived 9am in Plymouth HMNB Drake. done and dusted by 10am fishing by 11am at Devils Point.
This mark has been reported as being excellent for cod in recent weeks and very large whitting upto 3lb !!
Armed with fresh lug peeler and squid on a pennel rig it was rods in.
I gave a gentle flick 10yrds and the line just kept dissapearing OMG it was deep about 40 mtr according to a local angler.
The tide a massive spring was going to be hard from the get go as even at low water there was one hell of a rip taking a 6oz lead to easily.
the fish started to come in thick and fast all large pout and massive crabs about 5-6 just on one lug work sad
We then packed up and moved to Saltash under the Brunel bridge again where reports of cod to 18lb had been plentiful??
The same thing lots of crabs pout and this time large whitting, another angler had the biggest Dab ive possibly ever seen a lovely 1lb plus it was bigger than the 1lb 4oz flounder I had the other day easily.
It was now nearing 7pm and time for the long 3.5 hour drive back in the snow. I will be back to some of these marks soon

Danny
