Saw on recently mussels being used to catch bass. Has anyone tried this and did it work? |

Hi Tony
I have used mussel and limpet for bass many a time and often to devastating effect, this is really after a good storm or in rough conditions,
They are however a real pain to get enough of it on the hook to make a good bait and requires quite alot of bait elastic, Goldzac is the best bait elastic to use as its light brown in colour not white its thinner and more dureable but hard to get hold of, makeup jewelery shops like claires accessories usually stock it for a couple of quid.

lay the mussel meat on a tray and lightly cover in salt about 5/6 hours before you intend to use them. this will dry them out slightly and make them easier to get on a hook. 30 seconds after being in the water they rehydrate back to normal again. |
