scars elbow 11th march

Me, Fishyrob and H Bomb, fished at scars elbow this afternoon. Another daylight assault on the codling, this time armed with crab & rag, plus a few odds and ends from the freezer. We arrived 2 hours into the flood and began fishing, the WSW breeze was just strong enough to shorten the casting distances that we had achieved on Thursdays trip, This I feel had an effect, coupled with the fact that the tide strength was weaker, we didn’t seem to find the better size fish that Thursday had promised.
Plenty of fish were caught however, including one sizeable whiting 15” and fifteen or more codling. No bass or eels showed up as you might expect on the crab, but maybe that’s just because it’s still a little early. The weather today though could of fooled anything into thinking it was summer, I’ve got tan lines already!
The ebb fishing proved to be slow once again, with only a couple of tiny codling for the 3 hours effort, one of those falling for a whole chuck it and chance it squid!!!
Good afternoon out really and H’s casting is coming on a treat, she also mastered putting on her own bait, I wont be impressed though until she goes and buys her own end tackle and keeps her hands off of mine. No, no, stop it! 8O happy

Great report OCB.

Fishing can be very fickle at times, one day there will be a shoal of good fish, the next not so good, but that is all part of the excitement and suspense of fishing, you just don't know what the day will provide.

Still, you caught lots of fish which made the trip worthwhile in that respect and you had pleasant company aswell, which all makes for a great day out.

Excellent day out yesterday, I feel much more confident now with casting and must say proud of myself for getting over my issue with bait. Well nearly!!
Can't wait for the next trip, Love it!!!!!!! big grin
