Somebody told me that unwashed squid is better than the normal frozen squid. anybody had any experience?

It certainly smells a lot stronger than the 'clean' sort and therefore should attract the fish better - in theory, at least. It's difficult to quantify the results though, as the tiny Whiting are grabbing just about anything and everything at the moment.

personaly i think ita much better .ive spent the last year trying it aganst the washed squid and have better resulys with it

for boat fishing there is nothing better.

my biggest shore caught cod was on a single unwashed squid, and seem to do better with it, but at the moment i don't think the whiting really care big grin big grin

Your comment regarding using it frozen interested me. Can you explain why you do this, please? I have always thawed mine out as I found that the hooks sometimes tore out of a frozen bait when casting. The frozen flesh simply 'snapped off'. When thawed out, it's as tough as old boots and is almost impossible to cast off. Does using it frozen help you to present it better? What sort of rig do you use it on?

As soon as it is thawed out you lose the ink and sent, as i only boat fish
on my own boat we only uptide and down tide fish .no hard casting.
