Can anyone advise me on where I can obtain parts and schematic diagram, for the Penn Surf Master 750. On my 1st day Fishing my new reel bail arm fell apart and some parts never to be seen again, having trouble to source Online. |

I don't know about the Surfmaster 750 but if it is anything like the 850 it is c**p.
If you can find out if they are similar I might have the gubbins that you want as I have a broken 850 and spare spools
I got spares from a company that I think is called Purefishing and they were very helpful.
You might want to PM Reelwizard who I believe is the forums expert
Let me know if the parts are compatible |

I have found a link were you are able to get all make and model PDF diagrams :http://www.fishermansheadquarters.com
And the 750-850 look the same spec. so the parts I require you indeed are compatible. |

why not just bring it back to the shop? if it was new, or even a few weeks old then they have to repair/replace it! |

For years retailers have known the unreliability of these reels and yet they continue to stock them and sell to the unsuspecting customer.
Any retailer worth their salt wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.
If I see any tackle shop with them on display certainly won't get my custom, for 2 reasons.
1. They don't know the products they are selling
2. They don't care.
In either case it shows lack of consideration for the customer.
Cheers

it shouldn matter where you got it, you still have rights.
as for rabbis comments, i kind of agree but also reckon people should be aware of what they are buying. i wouldnt walk into a shop and buy a reel on the basis that the guy behind the counter says its good. i always note what he reccomends and do a google/forum search before i buy.
still think its a disgrace how these reels are being marketed in catalogues, youd think you were buying a top end reel that was gonna haul 500lb sharks from the beach, yet many of them struggle to pull in undersized flats . i wonder how many people will be brave enough to try the new 8000 model when it comes out? |

Try Blakdog Tackle - he can usually fix anything reel wise. |

Contact the retailer you purchased it from and arrange to send it back for a full refund - your entitled to that by law and the cost of the return postage of the faulty item too. If you get hassle with the retailer contact your local trading standards who will be only too glad to offer advice and assistance. If you purchased it from one of the better retailers you won't have a problem.
Quite frankly Penn should just stick a skip at the end of the production line and save retailers and their customers all the hassle that is involved with owning a Surf Master, they might as well make them out of toffee. |

Very true
Most of the time FS problems result from a lack of servicing I think but I know of a good few of these now that have fell apart pretty much straight out of the box and even one that had loose bits in the box when it was opened (I think that was the bail arm too). They should go straight back to the retailer if they are under a year old. |
