Hi, a bit of advice please.
I am going to try lure fishing with weights up to 60gm.On a mainline of 15lb(or is that too heavy) would I need any form of shockleader.
Thankee kindly

My own personal opinion is that no shockleader would be required with such a small weight.
Cheers

Depends what you are targetting but I use 12 lb line as it casts further, which would probably cope with bass up to 10lb provided you play the fish well. |

just my own opinion but if you are using a coloured mainline I would like to use four or five feet of clear mono down to the lure.
Forget what you here about red being the first colour of the spectrum to vanish under water, if that were true why do so many lures have a red tag on them somewhere or why do firetail jellyworm outfish plain black ones??? |

I would agree with that baitdigger or even better use some flourocarbon line for that last section, which virtually disappears in water. A bit pricey but if you are that keen and do regular lure fishing, it could be worth it as a 100 yd spool will last you a number of years. |

I'd also point you in the direction of Henry Gilbey's blog, he's mad on lure fishing and has a fair few tackle reviews/advice sections. Well worth a read. |

Really interesting blog from Henry today about lines for lures if you were still interested. |
