have been out a whole lot in recent months due to one thing or another so i thought i deserved a nice day out, was just hoping the fish would play ball. got rag dug on the thursday night and headed out to a rock mark hoping for pollack and wrasse on the float.
it started out a little slow, with nothing showing for the first 30 mins, the float took a few dives but they just seemed to be picking at the tails of the rag. eventually it dived again and i had a fish on, a nice little ballan wrasse of about 1lb. it got hectic for the next hour with wrasse and pollack taken on almost every cast. the pollack were all smallish tho and the biggest wrasse about 2.5-3lbs.
i struck into a really strong fish who dived deep and after what seemed like an age i got it up a little from the rocks and weed, only to have it gain more line and snag good and proper. pulled for a break and only lost the hook so on with another one and back in 2 mins later. it wasnt in the water 2mins when i was in again, felt like another good fish and got him upto the top, probably the biggest wrasse of the day and as i reached for the net he dissapeared. i was raging, 2 good fish gone in 2 casts but at least i got a good fight off the 2nd fish.
i got another couple of wrasse and pollack but then the numbers started to die off, still the odd fish apearing but only every couple of casts.
i stuck on a few soft plastics and bounced them along the bottom and got a few more fish aboard with the pollack hitting them hard, again nothing big but they kept me entertained.
ended up with about 10-12 pollack and maybe 8/9 wrasse so a nice enjoyable day out.
a few pics,
