Hi there!
I'm new to sea fishing, but used to course fish a lot when I was younger.
I was thinking of fishing at the Groyne in South Shields, but didn't know what it would be like.
Can any one give me any hints or tips? When to fish, what setup to use, what bait, what kinda fish I'm likely to catch? Anything that will help really!
Many thanks!

welcome aboard mate.
i've not fished the groyne, though i've been told it can be productive, but its very rough ground, especiay at lower water.
the pier has some great shots, both rough and sandy marks.
the walkways are good too.

Went fishing at the groyne this morning between 7 and 9 am. Didn't catch a thing.just fed the crabs!
I used a paternost rig with mackerel strips.
Is it worth trying different methods or am I best trying different times, or indeed trying somewhere else entirely?
Cheers!

its hard enough to avoid the crabs at this time of year but if you use Mackie every crab with in a 10 mile radius will zone in on your bait |
