Bigsi and me, fished the Southfalls venue Canvey Island on Sunday 25th Feb.
It was a neap tide of 4.7mtrs at 18.23hrs
The weather and sea conditions were calm WNW breeze, slight sea and overcast with occasional showers.
We began fishing in daylight 2 hours before high water and were not surprised by the lack bites, It wasn’t until 1 hour into the ebb, and well into darkness that the fish switched on.
The bites for the most part were very delicate, probably due the weaker tide run, and the majority of fish were very small codling.
One school bass made a welcome appearence, hitting the bait unmistakably hard, and rattling the rod tip right up to the beach, not a noteable specimen at 35cm, but better than another fingerling cod.
We fished with the usual lug and squid combination, but did conclusively find that the fish favoured razor fish, or razor and lug cocktails.
Bigsi and me, are in agreement that this may be a specific trait at this venue, due to the large shellfish bed that exists 150yds from the beach?????????????
The codling were present at all distances, but the schoolie came to a bait at a greater distance , say 80 to 90yds.
Total catch was 15 codling & 1 schoolie.
Conclusion: 2 happy punters

Cheers all,

OCB..

Great report OneCodBob. Sounds like you had a good session.
I have only fished the Scarrs Elbow venue and don't know the other places, but I too have come to notice that the best of the fishing is during the ebb when the tide is running strongly.
Where about on Canvey Island is the Southfalls venue? (hope you don't mind me asking).

Tight Lines.

Hello fish4,
Thanks for the compliment, I would gladly tell you where southfalls road mark is, just pm me with your number and I could give you directions or maybe even arrange a session.

Cheers mate,

OCB.
