Hamble 20/5

Well with the wind dropping and the conditions looking good, me, sam91, dannypanter and nthendpompey decided on a trip to the hamble. On arrival at 8.45pm the tide was a bit out but not to far so we set-up before it got too dark.

Bait of choice was Peeler crab, hermit, squid and hard backs. With the goal to catch our first decent smut of the year the challenge was on winking

. As we was casting distance sam was casting shorter than us and should be changing his name to golden balls tougue

. He was first in with a small smut, then he changed to hardback and got a cracking bite but missed it sad

. With us three still convinced of a larger hound futher out we all watched as Sam continued having bites every cast. By midnight Sam had caught 3 small smuts and then he had a much better bite. After striking his rod, which i jokingly thought would result in a pair of fish lips coming in laughing

his rod had a nice bend in it. After a nice fight a nice dogfish came in. About 2am i reeled in to find a suicidal smut on my line which was very small, but saved a blank big grin

. After that we was all pretty knackered but Dannypanter fished on to save his own blank later by a 5lb smoothound.

Congratulations to Sam who out fished as all and look forward to the next session where he can give me fishing tips laughing
