Hi all, These strong Easterlies have stopped play so I thought i'd mess around with some more fly tying as I haven't done any for a while.
Thought the utc tinsel on the belly added a new dimension to the conventional.
And another way of tying the conventional.
An all Bucktail generic Baitfish pattern.

Chris, I am sure they will catch fish, but, the last one will fish hook down as unlike the clouser it does not have weighted eyes, so surely the white should be under with the yellow on top?

I think your reffering to Skuffa's fly Tom.
Yes really the white should be on the bottom to form the 'belly' of the fly, and the yellow/charteruese should be on the top to form the 'back' for conventional thinking, however, odd colour combinations, and unusual non fishy colours do catch plenty of fish, believe me! Perhaps Skuffa has wrapped the shank in lead wire to invert the hook? |

Nice flies chaps.
Skuffa...thin out your bucktail a bit by holding it at the tips and stripping out the shorter and broken fibres.
Wighty....Post me some of those flies please
Cheers

He hey, nice one chaps... Tom I'm quite new to this but had been told to experiment with colours hence the fly having a white back instead of belly.. I understand the white is usually used for the belly.. it does ride well in the water with the white as the back but doesn't dive as much without dumbell eyes.. Kind of what i wanted for a local venue..
Simon thanks for the advice, I've got a little brush for the job and i'll pay more attention next time.... Only got hold of bucktail a week ago but really enjoying playing around with it... Simon do you tie or just nick whitefishes?? lucky you!!
heres another for by the chain ferry i hope:) I really gotta catch somethin!!!!
Cheers James
