Hi guys, I am planning to get out next weekend with my fishing buddies, and we are taking a newbie with us, we have talked him in to giving it a try(planning a night session and will be a big help with lugging all the gear)
We are coming from London, and would appreciate any ideas on a venue with deep water, that will put us in with a chance of a few codling, without the need for distance casting. apart from the obvious piers are there any beaches we could try on the east coast, day or night or both? |

Orford Ness is probably the deepest and likely to be most productive without belting a bait out- Colchester Sea Angling Club had a comp there last week through the day and by all accounts the fishing was better through the day than it was through the previous night. You would need to book the ferry over though. It leaves from Orford Quay early morning and picks you up to return to the quay about 4 and similarly for a night session would leave the quay 3.30- 4pm in the afternoon, picking you up the following morning.
To be honest I dont think any of the main beaches are fishing that well on the Suffolk coast at the moment but that doesnt stop me drowning those worms.
You could try Dunwich or Aldeburgh. St Osyth in Essex is a decent venue especially if you want to fish from the car as the beach os literally over the wall from the car park- though generally you need to cast a reasonable distanceto get into the fish
Good luck. |

We've got a trip to Orford planned for next Saturday if you're interested. You only need a shortish cast as Stuart says (40-50 yards). Theres about 12 of us. The ferry is booked but a couple more wont be a problem. If you're interested, PM me and let me know numbers. Details for the trip willbe on a new post in a bit. |
