Venue: 3rd shelter.
Tide: Spring, HT 15.00
Weather: Sunny intervals, strong breeze.
Sea: Choppy, with white crests on wave-tops.
Rig: One up - one down.
Bait: Lugworm (blow)
Result: 1 plaice (25cm) 4 coddling (biggest 29cm)
Fished straight down side of pier about half a rod length out.
Plaice, caught one hour before high tide.
Coddling, caught in quick succession once tide had turned and started to flow strongly.(would have been 5 coddling , two fish on at once, but one fell off whilst lifting it from the water)
However, just as the fishing was getting good, at 15.30 the driver of the pier-train stopped and informed me that the pier was closing at 16.00 and I had to be off by then.
So, 10 minutes later I reluctantly packed up and disgruntedly made my way back.
Nevertheless, it was a most enjoyable day's fishing as this was the first plaice, and coddling for that matter, that I have caught in a while.
Made a nice change from catching immature bass and whiting.
Tight Lines. |

bit of bugger being asked to leave when you're catching. I think I will have to try your spot soon, as I hate being snagged and blanking.
i am still considering a night pass but I am not convinved that anything big comes from the pier.
When you go next if during the week invite me. |
