hello

am a total newbie to beach fishing having recently converted from the carp lakes.

can anyone give me any advice about fishing in the boscombe/bournemouth area? i have had a few dismal attempts but am not sure best times or places to try.

also - how can i cast further out? any links to sites where they show good techniques?

all help greatly appreciated!
thanks
alex

i'm just down the road in xchurch, i'm also new to sea fishing and haveing the same luck as you, went to hengistbury head this morning 7-11 am and all i ended up with was a runny nose and wet feet lol. use to do quiet abit of carp fishing but fancied a change, and i love the sound of the ocean so its all good but if i could catch somehing it would be alot better. good luck on your next trip happy

I live in Christchurch and would often fish Hengistbury Head Groyne during the summer months big grin The fishing off that Groyne can be really great with Wrasse Pollack Garfish and Mackerel to many methods including Float fishing or using feathers / Lures etc.

thanks for your replies.

from what i am hearing it seems christchurch and poole harbour entrance are better spots than the beach area between bournemouth & boscombe pier.

anybody know about what its like fishing from the pier itself?

casting is improving slightly but i still dont feel i am getting the baits out far enough - i guess thats just practice.

any other tips from anyone in this area would be greatly appreciated!
cheers

i've heard scant reports from bournemouth/southbourne areas lately but sea fishing this time of year is a bit hit and miss around there .
sml bass/pout/whiting seem to be showing on the regular matches at avon beach, i suspect most ppl are hunting the last of the flounder in the estuarys b4 they leave to spawn , still good numbers of flatties from southampton water with hythe being about the top spot , better but fewer at poole i dont know poole so well so can't really recomend venues. hamworthy/holes bay /holly bush spring to mind.

gord.

i dont think you are allowed to fish off boscombe pier anymore ... i've been on southbourne beach a few times with no luck ,

sandbanks by the ferry is good ..also shore road and evening hill are sheltered if the weathers not to good ,caught a couple of flounders at evening hill recentley and a few bass have come out at this spot ...

holes bay is also good if its not too windy ...caught my first fish there in december big grin

hiya, sorry but dont know what your situation is but can you get around by car? if so then you are in same situation as us because we live near outskirts of poole but travel to the chesil bank mainly to fish as it is deeper water and can catch decent fish. we tend to either fish chesil near portland and chesil west bay or have just started fishing ringstead as well but there is a lot of seaweed at this location causing snags and heavy losses of gear]]]]]]]]]]]
