hello all,
Between 2 rods, with 2 hooks, me and bigsi managed to get 24 fish.
23 codling(2 scrapers) & 1 rockling.
5.1mtr tide, using Lug/Rag/Squid & Razors
Fished 3 hours flood(better) 2 hours ebb(slower)
40 to 50yds any further out the bites slowed.
Wind was SSW 4 or 5, and the surf was good and strong.
Fished from the groyne with the miniature beach, mainly for the comfort and casting, but like I said, you didn't need to cast far.
Cheers then,
OCB..... |

Hello soleman,
Yeh, will do.
It looks like the tide timmings are gonna go out of range for me for a bit.
Saturday night is a possible? but I think you might get wet feet on a 5.7mtr tide? depending on the sea state and boat traffic ofcourse.
I fancy the thorney bay marks though, cos if you can hog a set of those steps you can get up and down comfortably to cast etc.
Some good fish have turned up there for me in the past, and I'm getting to feel a little confidence with the numbers of fish showing at the moment.
Famous last words
Be in touch.

at thorney bay how far do you have to cast.
I'm tempted to try canvey - especially after reading good reports, and catching little at southend or fambridge, but I am not quite sure exactly where to go & my casting needs practice |

Hello mate,
30 yards puts you in the rocks, 50 yards puts you on the fish.
Southend is always patchy, and fambridge has probably been turned off with the fresh water pouring into it, A friend of mine caught a carp from watery lane(Hulbridge) whilst mullet fishing a couple of years ago, Fambridge is only a couple of miles down river
I'm off to Thorney bay tonight, pop down and take a look.
You can find the camp easy enough, drive in and follow the road right to the end, then you will sea the sea wall.
You haven't seen my casting yet!
Gotta go.

i think one cod means drive into the caravan park, as long as the barrier isnt closed as can happen on night sessions in winter or ask security nicely and they'll often let you in |
