hi all just wondering what your thoughts are on useing braid as a shookleader .most people seem to say that the thickness of your line can make a big difference ie weed catching ,tide pull etc so why not use braid as the shookleader as pound for pound in strenth braid is a lot thinner than mono .your thoughts please

Steve,
I may be completely wrong but I think one of the main factors for using a Shock Leader is the stretch that you get with mono - I think a braid shock would be a bit severe !
Even people who use braid as a mainline generally use a mono shock.
Cheers,

hi steve
no point
as its so small in diameter, just use 50 lb braid straight through
no need for a shockleader |

As a shock leader is a no no Steve mate. Shock Leader is meant to take the initial power of the cast and to absorb some of the forces created by such as otg casting.
I use 80lb Ron Thompson Cable Braid straight through.
Cheers

I suppose you have to be carefull not to cut through the main line when you cast as the braid might bed in. Not sure if it will 100% but it might be a factor |
