is it true that if you practice your cast with heavier leads i.e. 6-7 oz, when it comes to casting 4 or 5 oz the cast will be much smother and bettre timing, is this true...........................dale |

practicing with heavier leads can help you out. i personally would stick to the six ounce or the 175grm. with the heavier lead everything happens alot slower. this should help sort out your timing. but what you have to remember is that when you go back to the lighter leads things will speed up again. the heavier lead cannot be bullied like the lighter leads. if you want your arms to stay attached to your shoulders then treat the heavier leads with respect. |

you have to build the power up slowly on the heavier leads. as with casting all leads the accelleration of the lead comes with the punch , pull phase.
it will feel strange at first, but when you get used to it , it will feel alot easier on the lighter leads.
you cannot hit the heavier leads from the word go. in time the heavier lead will feel not so much as trying to cast a dead cow. |

If you apply the power too early then there will be a tendancy to be pulled over the top and miss a major part of the power stroke.
If you use TJ's method it will work everythime.
The heavier the sinker the more respect it commands. |
