Hi Everyone,
Going to go fishing sometime soon, along the Portsmouth coast was wondering if anyone knew some top spots where I can go fishing. Also what bait to use and the best rigs and traces this would be great help,
Cheers Jay |

Hey acko , any spot really is fishing just as good as any other spot across the front of what i no , giving this time of year is not a good time. I`ve fished most of the spots across the front the last couple of weeks an mainly the same each session through-out each spot that we try, this is like a few pout an whiting each session, an a few small flounders up towards hill-head cliffs way. Try using rag tipped off with a bit of mackeral on a 2 hook clipped rig, size 4 hooks with short snoods this would sure to bring you a few whiting an pout, or try using some peeler crab an try for the few flatties that are being caught around now and again, For other anglers if your after a few flatties an cant find any, i`d recommend a trip to western shore at southampton, went there 2 times this week with the tide being in the morning, had a few nice size flounders. Deffinatly worth a trip. hope this has helped you out a bit |

no where in portsmouth area fishing well at present, fished eastney, southsea and langstone harbour a dozen times since christmas and lost count the amount of times i blanked, a few small bass and flounder, thats it really. better waiting for march/april when the plaice come in numbers.
ive heard its better at night though so that might be a better option. heard theres still alot of bass about just finding them regular is the problem, i havant so it might be a myth.
good luck |

do you mean round tower old portsmouth next to victoria pier, if so its fishing better at night, bass and small rays, pollock and bass during the day. not fishing very well but worth a bash, very nice views if nothing else.
lets us no how you get on |

If you decide to fish on the shingle beware that the nearer you go towards the tower and futher you cast there are many old communication cables laying there. Try not to cast out over 150yrd.
Good luck, let us know how you get one.

also the closer you fish near the tower on the beech the sea can be super strong leaving your line round the tower. your need grip leads 5-6oz without saying. ive heard using chunks of fish baits is good on the pier casted about 50 yards out especially when the large ships go by creating surf and food |

not that i know of. a couple of hundred yards to the left of it by the blocks is producing bass, especially at night. south parade is hundred times better in the summer |
