I fished the wyre estuary this morning , on the Hambleton side of Shard bridge. The first problem with this location is that the river bank consists entirely of marsh land. The second problem I encountered was that the river bed holds some rather large stones that magnetically draw your fIshing weights to them.
The bait I used was black lug, shell on prawn, sand eel, and peeler crab. I fished it for 4 hrs and never got a bite. I am told that you cant fail to catch flatties here but for past few weeks the fishing around the Fylde coast has been very poor.
I took my nephew along and he is relatively new to sea fishing. He actually managed to put half a lug worm on a hook for first time.clever lad![im g]
Photo of the nephew looking rather pleased with himself.
I will retry this location in spring when the ground is drier and see if i can do any better.[/im g] |

Nice photos- good on you for getting out there- reports seem to be pretty much the sam everywhere at the moment apart from the boats. |

It's really nice to see pictures and one day when I get a brain I'll sit down and suss out how to do it.
The more people do this the better the site will become. Not that it isn't good already. |
