Hi all,

I'm heading down to the IOW for the bank holiday weekend and I'd like to do some fishing from the beach.

I usually river fish and fly fish so this will be a new experience for me. I am camping very close to the sea at Brighstone Bay so ideally I'd like to be able to just wander down and fish there, I'll have my little brother with me so don't want to be travelling far.

Can anyone tell me if it will be possible to fish from the beach around the Grange Farm area and also what kit and bate I will need?

Thanks in advance.

One of my favorite beaches on the Island, yes, you can fish from the beach in front of the grange and to the left and to the right of it.
This is big fish country so a beachcaster, reel -fixed or multi, 3/4/5oz leads (grip and plain) (tide is not too powerful at Brightstone) 4/6/8.o hooks,40lb snoods, 25lb plus mainline????? obviously you will use the gear that you have
and you may want to fish heavier or a lot lighter.
Parts of the beach are clear, parts are rocky (bedrock) but you will see these at low water.
Bait only one choice Mackerel, fresh or frozen.

You may catch Bass, ray's,conger,Pollock and pout etc in the bay.
Go left during the day,and anywhere at night but I'd try in front of the stream at night.
Good luck down there,I'll be down there myself
