Hi all, finally got a window to get out on the Fly this evening, got to the venue on low to find the water settled but stained, so fly choice was going to be crucial. With only a couple of hours in front of me I was hoping that the fish would play ball.
I expected the fish to start feeding at a certain stage of the tide, but the expected action didn't come and I began to think it wasn't going to happen, I had also gone through several types of fly by this time as well, so with the light fading on went the ubiquitous Black Clouser.. Bingo!
The combination of fading light and the Black peril worked a treat and the fish began to come. In a short hour long spell across dusk I took around ten fish the best going around Two pounds. Good to be back!

Cheers Mick. Chanced my arm again last night though due to the lateness of the tide and the drawing in of the evenings I knew I would only have a slim chance of catching a few. Well as I thought the window was even smaller than the night before but I managed 4 or 5 fish before it got too dark, even getting hit a couple of times right on dark though I sadly missed those. Nothing big this time but I certainly learn't a bit and have got my confidence in the Black flies now...I see a gothic phase coming on!! |

Well done Chris. Nice to see you back on the forum.
By coincidence I was fishing a small version of the same fly this evening in total darkness and hooked a nice sea trout. Bugger got off after a short struggle but good fun all the same. Amazing how shiney silver the fish appeared even in darkness.
Keep it up Chris.
