Hi all!

Hope someone can answer this for me - the other day I was fishing off Deal beach and there were two black flags/bouys in the water as if there was a net running parallel to the beach - what is this? Would it affect my chances of catching because I had nothing all day and soon started to feel I was wasting my time...

No need to worry Tony, the flag and buoy that you can see are lobster pots. Now the water has sheared away a bit, fishing has gone quite. Try after dark for better results.

Thanks guys for the info. I also thought they were nets because I have always seen a pair of markers.

CELOCANT - what do you mean when you say the water has sheared away a bit? What venue and tactics would you advise around Deal/Walmer/Sandwich? I have had just one fish of note since last summer round these parts. Are many bass taken off Kingsdown? I've heard they are sometimes there but I am yet to meet someone who has caught one! I fluked a nice schoolie near sandown castle (1-2lb perhaps) a couple of month ago but that's about it!

By shearing away … I meant that the sea was getting clearer. As for catching big bass – yes Kingsdown could be the hotspot, however, anywhere along the Deal coastline with a big bait could score. … after dark.
