Had to skive a day off from work today, as i was informed there is an excessive amounts of cod being caught on the boats around the Clacton area. So loaded up with lug and squid we left Wallasea Marina around about 7.30am this morning, on board the White Marlin which was skippered by my mate Tony.
After a few cups of tea, and the normal remanicing about what we use to catch, we arrived at our mark just of Clacton Pier at 9.30 am. The weather condition was just about perfect, along with the murky brown water, which by now had just started to ebb.
And it wasn't long before we had to wait for our 1st fish a nice 4 pounder, then another, and another, things were now starting to look up big grin big grin . The next 4 hours were probably the best winter cod fishing we've had for many years, and fingers crossed, I just hope it's the start of things to come
In total I had 16 codling between 2 and 4.5lb, with the other 3 anglers managing 31 between them. I dont think it would have made any difference what bait you use today, as any fool would have caught them. .
All i have to do now is wait for my next trip, which I think its going to be alot sooner than i originally planned.
Happy Hunting All

well done. I am green with envy.

I am out on Thursday from Burnham on Dominator. If weather is okay hopefuly we will end up Clacton Way. The skipper is pretty good and tries to get fish - he mentioned yesterday that Clacton was fishing well - looks like he was right

Give me cod - Please

See you there on Thursday 'itgottaway'........
Gives me a chance to try out my boat rod and multiplier again, after nearly 15 years in mothballs.
They are still in excellent condition, which is more than I can say for 'Concrete'
