Sitting in house after dinner, TV poor, lovely looking evening.
Wifey intended to what some girly film so..............
......headed out about 18:30, arriving at sea for about 19:00.
Beautiful evening, warm sunny, water not to stirred and tide pushing in.
Hi tide somwhere around 22:30.
Using a very light telescopic rod (60g cast weight) and reasonably well matched reel, with a Ron Thompson 'herring lure' of about 12g.
Second cast and was into a fiesty pollack (even the little ones feel better on a light rod). Over the next 45 minutes, had landed 4 small pollack, and enjoyed every minute of it. Changed to an Abu Krill of 8g, and fished for another 15mins and nothing at all.
Changed back to the herring lure and cast it out hitting into a well set mackerel. On the light gear this was a brilliant play. Shooting hard left, hard right and diving. Excellent.
Continued 'til 22:30 and decided to have one last cast before heading home, and would you believe, snagged and lost 'the magic lure' .
Total
7 pollack landed all off about 1-1.5LB
2 pollack lost on way in.
1 mackerel off 15.5 inch
All pollack returned safely to grow up, and the mackerell is in the fridge .
