Fished the kennels last night formerly known as gillkicker with bassmanrob and steve (scottish and mental) fished right in front of the fort , arrived at 7 pm to a cracking evening ...........
The tide was still pulling hard , so rob took some time out to practise his pendulum casting .............
.............
It was only an hour before we could start on the mission of finding a raymond or 2 , however first cast i managed this cracker .....
just as well i always carry 1 or 2 spares
the fishing was great from the off , with the never ending supply of big fat woofers , heres steve battling with 1 .............
a few hound pups put in a appearance on the crab baits so first of the year for me starry pup .........
Had a couple big fat posh pout snaffling the crab baits , and then a different bite and my first ray of the year and target species was brought to the shore .............
Caught on bluey and sandeel wrap , brilliant nights fishing being kept busy all night by the big hitting woofers , hound pups , fat pout , a few small bass and the solitary spotty ray , and to my surprise we were able to fish untill the ebb at 5.30 am this morning , cheers lads , cracking night
lee. |

We parked by the houses on the road and walked through footpath that cuts through the golf course. Either that or use the car park at the end of Military road and walk along the beach. |

Good on you Cuckoo, you certainly do keep on finding the fish.
Good to see the start of the Rays being caught from the beach.
From a personal note it's also damn good to see that even a guy of your experience can still get nests of that size.
I know you should never laugh and another's anglers misfortune, (except of course when Samir get's a baiting needle up his nose. Then iit's just rude not to roll around laughing .) It's just good to see that it can still happen to the best of em.
Well done and keep posting the reports as the photos are always top notch. |

I was demonstrating health and safety My point was something like this
"One thing an angler must never do is place a baiting needle in his flotation suit whistle pocket. I am going to demonstrate what happens when a fool decides to do this. First I am going to trip up a sand hill and upon doing so the needle will enter my nose (or my eye) but on this occasion its in my nose. From here I will try blowing my nose thinking I have a stone stuck in my nose upon using headlight to see I find the needle stuck in my nose upon which, I pull out and release the taps "
I hope you all leart a lesson which, I had to experience the pain for to prove it |
