I have had them on artifical bread flake before but this maybe to heavy for a fly might send for some of that sponge do you just hook like a normal bread bait then super glue in place?
Also used to paint hook white to match mullet are very good a seeing the hook.

Tried the Rammer sponge a few years ago but never had much luck, although it does look realistic, especially if you rip bits off with your teeth. Also experimented with artificial bread (as used by crap fishers) and swear I could see the Mullet laughing at it.
I made a conscious decision not to use bread flies for my Mullet fishing, preffering to try more natural imitations. However, to start your Mullet career off and gain some confidence, the bread fly is a very good bet where the fish are accustomed to bread.
One day on holiday I was wet wading in a harbour and surrounded by Golden Greys. They ignored every fly I put in front of them. I then remembered that bassfly had kindly given me a deer hair bread fly. Tied it on and then had 4 fish in four casts. Too easy!!! Never used it since. |
