Hi, welcome to the forum, In answer to your 1st question, you can catch fish all year round, (In theory ) the species vary up n down the country, so you will need to ask about your area, or venue. If you intend keeping any for the table the legal sizes can be found in the list on the left of the homepage under, NFSA size limits. To see the various fish, and when you can expect to catch them click this link.
http://www.sea-fishing.org/ftopict-8269.html
Baits also vary, depending on your target fish, but the mainstays are, Blowlug, Blacklug, Macky, Bluey, and squid, you can also use Peeler and razorfish etc. for a list and target fish see, Sea fishing baits, on the left of homepage.
As your new to sea fishing, and tides make all the difference, feel free to ask about best times to fish certain areas. Also should you need help with rigs, shockleaders, hook sizes etc, just post and hopefully someone will have the answers.
Other posts of interest can be found on the general forum stickys, for example,... Seafishing terms and jargon.
RNLI, Sea safety guide.
Know the lesser Weever fish.
Cheers..Mick |

Hi Richie, the best advice I can give you is to read as many sea fishing books as possible. I am completely self taught on the subject having read the works of many authors I dont know everything there is to know but I have a jolly good grounding. Of course dont forget to log on to here on a regular basis where there are lots of friends waiting to help.
Cheers
