Hi all fished dungy last night at the diamond. I caught a 6.25lb cod and had a bag full of good sized whiting and dabs.
Also ive heard that there has been quite a few decent sized cod coming from all around dungy, so im gonna make hay whilst the sun's still shining and get my ass back down there! Laters jim. |

Hi Jim......
Haven't been to Dungeness for a while, nice to hear a few better sized fish ar about along the South here.
Deal keeps bringing up the odd codling 6-13 lb, but the whiting have been small........ plenty of dogfish though.
May have to try and get down to dungy in the next few weeks...
Oh yeah almost forgot........... fish4dave, the local bait there is black dungy lug, plus all the usual stuf like yellow tails, squid, crab.... anything you feel lucky with 8O

Fish4dave, you need to be using big lug baits. I was using 4 commons up the snood and tipping off with 3 dungy lug all whopped on a 6/0 aberdeen pennel, probably why all the whiting were a decent size.
Dont bother with the point mate, its a complete waste of time, i fished there last night and just caught tiny whiting, and it was packed out. There has been reports of cod there but its not worth the bloody hassel, with idiots casting over your line every 3 seconds.
The best place to fish down there at the moment is the diamond, its abit of a trek but well worth it, just a little tip if your thinking about fishing down there this week, give thursday a miss, you'll get blown off the beach. But, over the weekend or early next week will be perfect down there if the wind drops off.
Good luck, laters jim. |

hello bruce, i just use a simple single snood paternoster, with 6/0 pennel, clipped down to aid distance and keep the bait intact. Most importantly you need to keep your bait anchored on the bottom, so use fixed grip leads as the tide is very strong over high tide, especially on a big tide and when theres a strong s/westerly.
You should be able to get bait from the local tackle shops but order it 3-4 days in advanced, because bait can get scarce towards the weekends.
This sunday or early next week should be perfect to fish the diamond if the wind eases off after saturday.

Dungyjim,
I've always been told line up the lighthouses and lob it as far as you can at Dungy. At the risk of cramping your style where is "the diamond"?

Ps The 30 yards I lob are unlikely to snag your line!

Hiya gonefishing, yes alot of people do tell you to line up the lighthouses and whack it as far as you can, but its a tackle grave yard out there.
The times ive fished there i have snagged up and lost tackle almost every cast, im not to sure what the snag is out there but it runs along the beach there for quite a way.
Ive read in sea dangler that it is a steep sand bank and your tackle gets washed up into it, also a bloke who works for the life boat told me its the power cable that runs to the marker buoy from the lighthouse, im not sure which is the right answer(answers on a postcard).
The diamond is just past the power station, you park in front of the power station and have to walk about a mile along the road. Laters jim |

Took my Dad fishing for the first time in 20 odd years last Tuesday and sheltered from the wind behind the shingle bank in front of the power station. Great day and only inches a way from the biggun! Took the worlds most expensive Whiting and Dabs home for dinner! To cold to go exploring but headed down the left hand side of the power station, didn't see any diamonds. Was I close? :?
It's only worm drowning

PS He used my kit, my bait, my petrol and ate my sausages and offered no financial renumeration. He's still got much to teach me! |
