hi everyone,
Planning for a holiday in summer for the family and thinking of bringing the family ( 6yrs old boy included). i am looking for fishing mark from the shore that fish well especially for makerel so that my little boy would enjoy getting fish by the dozens. Is there any marks in wales that easy access ie parking nearby and not dangerous for us?
cheers

The only place that springs to mind is Holyhead breakwater, you can park where you fish, spinning for mackerel is normally done by the first bend on the harbour side, the outer wall gives plenty of shelter. Check it out on google or better still check outthe holyhead meets in the past where we have had severel kids competitions.
Cheers

OK, Pembrokeshire...rugged coastline with ample opportunities for you here. There are some easy to get to spots that are over filled with tourists (no offence), and the harder you look the less people you might find!
To get Mackeral you either need to be afloat or from a rock. There are numerous harbours that run 1-1.5hour mackeral trips, Tenby, Saundersfoot, Dale, St Davids, Solva..most trips are around £10, and all tackle provided. These are great for a family trip.
Shore wise, reasonably safe rock ledges around St David, along the coast path from Whitesands, just follow the other fishermen! St Brides from the rocks on left of beach, wind fast close in though. Martins Haven, loads of ledges, some safer than others. Rocks around Stackpole, Manorbier, rugged but there are some safer places than others.
Message me if you need anything else. |
