Good Luck with your target- remember I think you need a special license to target sea trout though.
My personal target this years is to collect my own peelers, catch a 5lb plus bass, double figure thornback from the shore and to cast over 200 metres on the field- not asking much then...
Oops just realised this is the Fly forum- soz |

IF you ever really did hook one Bassfly, i reckon it'd tow you to Bermuda!!
Targets for this year...
Learn to flycast from my kayak, but maybe learn to paddle the thing first!
Next, catch a Bass over 5lb on the Fly. Also catch Mackerel, wrasse, gars, and pollock on the fly too.
Also on the menu from the kayak, but on bait not fly are : Smoothound, Ray, Tope, and maybe Cod if i can stand the cold!
That should keep me busy and out of mischief |

Hi,
Seriously im after the 10+ Bass, specifically the one that got away last year.
With regards to your casting off the Kayak Chris a simple roll cast will do once you have paddled out into a shoal.
Hopefully we can all meet up this season.
Cheers

My intention for this season is to learn as much about Mullet behaviour as I can. The long winter has given plenty of time for reflection on observations made last year and how I might convert these to fish catching opportunities.
I hope to keep an open mind in the new season and not just follow convention, falling into a rut by fishing the same flies and same tides simply because they have been successful in the past.
Last year I typically fished for Mullet on an incoming tide but one day towards the end of the season I fished the last two hours of the ebb.
By chance and quite unexpectedly, I witnessed Mullet feeding in a manner which was in total contrast to their 'normal' behaviour. I returned on several occasions at the same stage of the tide and saw them repeat their actions, during a fifteen minute window. I have an approach in mind that will hopefully tempt these fish to take a fly and provide some exciting fishing in the coming months. |

my goal is to catch my first fish on the fly, whether it be from the shore or from my kayak.
ive been practising my casting technique for a while and had a few lessons with a m8's dad who teaches locally and cant wait to get out and try for real. |

This years goal is to get out asmuch as possible....If I catch, that will be great, if not, I'll still be happy being out there watching the sun rise/set.

I have to agree with Dave......just being there and watching the sun rise and set over a beautifully calm sea is worth it's weight in gold......catching fish is a by product.
Would like a double figure bass though!
