Hi all,
Am going to Havana in march, and planing to do some fishing.
Has anybody got any information on either shore fishing or charter boats please.
I have googled and cant find anything.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

For my international fishing i always research on http://www.worldwidefishing.com/
I have never fished Cuba but have fished the the Gulf Coast all around Florida. Species will be similar. Dependant on time of year.
Offshore fishing is game orientated and expensive.
Inshore great sport with Tarpon and "Macks" (Spanish and Kingfish).
I favoured shore fishing around the gulf coast, great permit fishing.
Also dont overlook the shark and stingray, often frowned upon by charter boat skippers and not rated by shore anglers. That left all the more for me and had many days good sport catching a "Ray a Cast" up to 20lb - great fun and all returned happily to fight another day (the locals eat them !).
Have a great time - dont think you will blank ! |

I believe there is bonefishing there - which is principally saltwater fly fishing. This is perhaps the most fantastic fishing you can get, though you need to be a fairly competent doublehauler. |

last time I looked it was in rio deginaro (Brazil) so possibly not near havana
As for advise fishing there I've plenty of thoughts but I'm to jealous to share them
go for a small travel rod spin tackle and surface to shallow diving lures bright shiney ones, might also want some old sandles/trainers for walking the shallows, best of luck |

stingraysteve
sounds like the kit I usually take away with me.
Was hoping to get out on a boat for some big game fishing, but I agree with you, having the "travel kit" you discribed always comes in handy, and will usually catch something. |

three inch shads with 1/8 or 1/4 ounce jig heads and some gold or silver spoons will do for most shore fishing-never met anyone who wanted to intentionally catch rays.lol
many fish over here are toothy so a foot or so of 25 pound mono min for a shock leader can save lures -also oyster beds and coral will damage lines- |
