Hi has anyone dealt with, purchased a Surf rod from the 'Firefly ' company via E-bay /internet ?,Im thinking of the 'Ovation Surf 410' multiplier model 5-7 oz @ 13'-6" particularly, it looks a real fine piece of kit, the finish is 'Top drawer' .............what in your opinion is a comprable Multiplier reel, I had the Slosh 30 in mind..........but would that kinda be outa 'kilt 'ie butt heavy ???, hey i'm open to advice
Thanks in anticipation...........JOLI |

I have owned and regularly used one of their silhouette rods for about 18 months now. No problems until I accidently busted the tip ring last week but that was my fault. Well finished tough and great value for the money. I also bought one of their bass rods earlier this year and it's a cracker - will cast a 4 oz sinker ruddy miles although I tend to use it for flatty fishing and lure work as it is very light and slim with excellent bite detection.
Have sent off for new tip ring and hope to fit it next week. BTW Gordon of Firefly has promised to upgrade the silhouette a tad in the new year as I suggested that it could do with a bit more oomph in the tip section. As soon as the new rod is available I will be getting one. Can't speak for the Ovation because I don't have one but don't think you would be disappointed.
Can't comment on multi reels I'm afraid as I hate them except for boat work. |

Also have the Bass 13 ft rod they do, pleased with it.
Pretty solid, wouldn't say it's light, 3 piece so easy to get in a car.
The reel seat that came with it, multiplier, gave up in a short time. May have been me or simply bad luck. So may be a good idea to get a spare, think Veals do an Abu one. |

Hi Jolli, ive just bought the Ovation 420 and its a cracking rod, really well built and it throws a 6oz lead for miles. Only snag with it is its only a 2 piece and would have been more transport friendly as a 3.
Regards
Gordon |

Had a note from Gordon: There are family/work issues meaning the business is not getting the attention it deserves which is a shame. I wish I lived nearer as I am sure I could keep it going with my 30 odd years business experience but it's just too far for me to travel on a regular basis at my age. |

Just received a new Firefly 420 and 390 Bass beachcasters and am extremely pleased with the quality of manufacture. At less than £100 for both delivered, how could I miss the opportunity. Such a shame that they are closing. Now I just need to find the time to try them out on the Humber, but they were really purchased for when I retire early next year. |
