Hi guys

Whats happening on the north coast? Anybody fished Ballycastle lately or further round? Has anyone ever fished the other side of the rope bridge? I know the bridge is only there during Summer but i am looking to plan my 2 weeks hols for June and want to hear about catches and experiences around the area.
I was back in Coleraine in August 2009 for 2 weeks and fished every day. A strange thing happened twice while i was there and i can only explain in theory.
I fished my first day with Newty at Ramore head with spinners and strangely we were alone. (The weather was perfect). We were catching the odd mackeral but for the first time in over 20 years we were catching big launce (large sandeels). On one cast i let my spinner sink to the bottom and immediately something heavy attached itself to my treble. It stayed deep but unlike a coalie or lythe it just stayed deep and nodded. Could it have been a cod feeding on sandeels? ( I lost everything cos i couldnt move it).
The same happened a few days later at Portbradden. I lost both spinner and fish.
Its funny the things you remember most are the fish you lost and not so much the ones you landed.

let me know your experiences.

Stewarty
