Hi Mick
Mine is left on the reel but i do know that some people take it off and wind it in a figure 8 on 2 pegs spaced quite wide.
Cheers

Hi Mick. When putting a line away for a while I give it a wash off in warm soapy water then apply Snowbee Line Slick when dry. I used to wrap my lines around plastic garden sieves that I kept for the purpose but don't bother now since using large arbour reels, as they do not cause excessive line memory when not used for long periods of time. Worth washing the reel off too, and giving it a service. I've been using synthetic grease lately, sprayed on the working parts and applied to the casing with a cloth. Avoid getting it on the line though. The grease is salt water resistant and will keep your reel in tip top condition. Handy for metal zips on your fly vest as well, which will soon corode and seize up if not treated. |
