Another lost angler this wekend whena polish lad was wept of rocks near Cove (Altens) just south of Aberdeen.
Tides were low, but a biggish swell runnig in the easterlies.
Guy was fishing alone, at almost the same spot as another polish guy lost his life last winter.
Real shame, and a timely reminder of the dangers of rock fishing at this time of year. |

What can one say except condolences to those he let behind. In this weather Hypothermia would have given him no chance.
Thoughts and prayers.
Cheers

Oh dear, one can hardly bear the thought of it in present conditions. Some folk (and I have met them) seem to think "it will never happen to me" but it does. Even along our wonderful south coast a freak wave will sometimes arrive. Last year I was night fishing with usual mate and he was on a little promontory at the waters edge. A freak wave arrived and carried half his gear into the sea although not him. Very fortunately I cast well out a few minutes later, hooked his rod and managed to retrieve it. Needless to say he will not be doing it again! |

I was out and about on the rocks all weekend -I saw the chopper out looking -and later spoke to a guy from MRI who said it was so rough that they could not go out - the search was called off a while later . and was to start again today
my thoughts are with his family right now
To everyone out there" be safe" when out on the rocks and DONT fish alone ,and please please wear a Floatie suit and or life jacket . |
