Hi All,
I have been fishing for quite a while, and am already a member in Anglers Net Forumns. I decided to get a broader range of tactics, and found this forumn, which, at first glance, is crammed with advice. Where i live it is really bad for catching things, apart from colds, but i just enjoy being out of the house and being involved with the old fishermen who come and correct my rod, or tell me to not cast there, cast here or "You don't want to be using that bait laddy, use squid" (you get the idea- the sort who bombard you with stories of the fishful youths, and make you wanna ram a rod down the throats 'cos they are making things worse, because you havn't caught i thing in six hours...(its happened to me))
Any way, i hope to learn a lot on here,
YoungRod |

Hello Young'un, Shame you don't live near Pompey, could offer a bit of useful advice but in general: 1. Fish don't care what kit you use, they are just interested in what you offer on the end of it so don't get ripped off by some of the tackle shops with a lot of expensive tackle. 2. There are fish everywhere around our coasts but there are certain places where they regularly hang out, problem is, you have to find those "hotspots". I moved to Hayling about a year ago and it has taken me a lot of time to find most of the hotspots here; but I am still looking. 3. Different baits do indeed catch different things but ragworm and mackerel strips do seem to catch a lot of different species. 4. There are plenty of old wallies out there who think they know what they are doing but only catch the odd fish now and again. Many of them are as thick as two short planks and not worth listening to. Talk to the blokes who really do catch fish regularly, they probably wont tell you their hotspots, would you? 5. Tides and tidal currents are often important. 6. Have alook at this website: http://www.mikeladle.com/osa.html
Best of luck |
