I went out yesterday to a mark on the gower. Weather was nice..not too much wnd and the sun was shining. We took 1/2lb of maddies and a pack of mackerel.
Walking down the path was a bit flooed so I stayed to the side..slipped and now it looks like i'm a self harmer.lol. Nettles cut my hand and wrist.
We eventually set up and I banged mine out east into the wind and my friends went straight out & west (we shared a stand).
I baited a pennel 6/0 and 4/0 pulley with half a fillet and the other two used maddies on smaller hooks. 25-30 minutes later I thought i'd change my bait. Reeled into the tension of the weight and broke it loose but a split second later I felt resistance. Thought maybe I had hooked a weedfish but after a few turns of the handle I knew it wasn't. Whatever it was tried to turn in the tide a few times. Didn't want to loose it in the surf that was there so kept the pressure on and this was beached a few seconds later
Am I right in saying this is a turbot?
One of my mates caught a tiny one on a 1/0 shortly afterwards. I managed to pull out a whiting just over a 1lb before we left aswell. Overall not a bad day! |
