hi just wondering if anyone could advise me on a suitable reel for just beach fishing smooth ground and some reels for rough ground. ive not yet used a multiplier but i cant knock it before ive tried it can i |

The choice of reels will depend on the price range youe looking at but for clean ground either the Abu 6500CT or Daiwa 7HT or for a bit more money the mag versions for both.
For rough ground Abu 7500CT or Daiwa SL20SH or SL30SH or Penn international 975 but these are more expensive. |

As Bucko said Abu 7,500 is a very good choice but are expensive. I use both mine for both rough and smooth ground, because the retrive is a hell of a lot faster than the smaller reels and my thumb can get a better purchase on the spool for casting.

Or take a look at a Penn 525mag, as they are a gutsy reel that can handle rough ground and can cast really well too |

Over the last few months I have noticed quite a few members having problems with the 525 mag.
I know that the majority of them have been put right but its no fun waiting for a reel to be repaired that is not 6 months old,
