Headed out for a cold evening/night fish at Gilkicker point about 80 yards right of the groynes. Frezzing throughout and hard tides pulling strong as normal; However, we persisted all night and managed to bag 7 codling smallest 3lb largest 8lb all caught on a cocktail of mackeral and squid (half a side of mackral and a small piece of squid) using a pulley pennel rig. Had to cast a fair way to hit anything codlike, but we had a few whiting and pout close in on rag.
Hopefully of to chesil next week chasing the cod again, will let you all know how we get on.
If anyone else is managing to catch any decent size cod on the south coast please let me know..
Thanks and good luck to you all and Happy New Year! |
