Hi y'all
Looking at going to frinton on sat night(if the wife agrees), high tide is at midnight.
is a couple of hours each side of high tide ok
and looking at digging my own lug st morning and buying some rag.
what sort of rig would be best i normally use a 2 hook flapper with size 2/0 hooks.
Any comments welcome.
cheers everyone

I go to Frinton regularly and its got some good spots. To the right down alongside the golf course and the left in front of the block of flats.
The rigs you're going to use are fine, but i would take a bit of squid.
Good luck
Let us know how you get on |

You'd be better off fishing low water up- if you start 2 hrs before high you'll be off the beach very quickly as the tide races in and you'll be fishing from the wall- you need to cast a fair way out as it's a shallow venue so i'd personally use clipped down rigs unless you can cast a long way with a flapping rig. If you're gonna use squid use it on a second rod- but be prepared to move up the beach fairly quiclkly as the tide comes in |

not being picky but where did you get the high tide infomation from for the 12/9/09 as according to the tide on the bbc website (theres a link on this site to it) as its sayin high tide 17:40 and low water at 23:47 so think you may of got confused with low and high water and remember to add the hour to tides at the moment as were british summer time so as the tide is to early for me ill give it a miss till next week at some point as you'll be fishing most of that tide during daylight hours which keeps the fish further out as the night tides bring the fish in closer and also the water will be becoming deeper owing to spring tides which happen every2 weeks |

More than happy for you to come along but be prepared for loads of questions from me, only been doing it a few months and my mate who got me started has moved away.
just been looking at the tides again next thursday is looking quite good, and high is at 2247. wind looks ok and theres hardly any moon let us know if your interested or if youve got any other ideas on where to go and times

bear in mind that you have to add an hour to the tide as were in BST at the moment so high tide for thursday will be about 12ish so you can go digging at about 4 in the afternoon if thats any good to you as i know that kids love the mud lol also noticed the depth for that tide is comin up 4.7 which is a nice high tide so we never know are luck and as for going afield i tend to do that more in the winter time with places like aldbrough and orford island which ill pay another visit this yr so really its totally up to you about how we want to work it but will suss it either way as myself is in lexden colchester so not far away from anywhere |

si,
would it be worth going to Clacton or Mersea.
Ive been going to clacton during the day quite a bit recently and everyone ive seen or spoken to has blanked.
I quite fancy Mersea but not sure where to go or what rigs etc to use.
About 4 ish for diggin is fine. I normally dig at west mersea where the old pill box is on the beach. know anywhere better then let me know

as i aint been out yet im not to sure wheres catching at the moment but we going during the night so the blanking may come to an end for you fella as during the daylight hours the fish seem to shy away with full sun on the water so instead of going to mersea we'll head for holland haven just to give it a go or even frinton as like i say not been out this season yet. but remain optomistic like ya have to be lol and yeah digging there aint to bad.. sometimes i head to the right just depending how far i feel like walking. but im sure what ever happens it'll be a good night

Frinton fishes best on the flood. Use small hooks and keep the baits pinned to the ground for sole - look for the gulleys at low water near the groynes.
Best places are at the bottom of the steps at the end of the path or to the right at the end of the huts - but be careful as the tide comes in quickly so keep an eye out behind you... |
